HawaH

HawaH  (Hawa Touré Kuypers) was born in the Netherlands as the daughter of the legendary Malian musician Ali Farka Touré. As one of the great innovators of African music, he was known for his hypnotic guitar playing and his distinctive Mali blues, a style rooted in West African traditions and often seen as an important source of American blues.

HawaH grew up between the Netherlands and Mali, where music, family, and culture were constantly intertwined. Regular trips to Mali and the presence of her father's musical world fostered a deep connection to her roots. From a young age, she developed a broad love for music and dance, ranging from violin and guitar to rhythm and movement.

During the Amsterdam Roots Festival, HawaH makes her special debut with a personal ode to her father and his musical legacy.
